Looking for something a little out of the ordinary to do in the Columbia valley?  We offer off the beaten path adventures 12 months of the year!

Whether you prefer wildlife viewing and snowshoeing in February, a wilderness packtrip in June or visiting alpine lakes on a guided hiking trip in August, we have something you'll enjoy.

Findlay creek, thought of by most, as a tributary of the Columbia valley, actually drains into the Kootenay river just a few kilometers south of Columbia lake.  As the lower Findlay overlooks Columbia lake and the town of Canal Flats the mistake is understandable.  Decending from alpine meadows and glaciated peaks of over 10,000ft. in the west, to open grassland and large Ponderosa pine stands in the east, Findlay creek has amazing bio-diversity.  Healthy populations of grizzly, black bear, elk, mountain goat, moose, cougar, and wolves abound.  The upper section of this wonderful valley is protected from human encroachment by the Purcell Wilderness Conservancy, southern BC's largest unroaded wilderness.

Through this beautiful setting we have a cabin and trail network that, while unobtrusive, allows us to offer you a variety of true wilderness adventures.

If there are those in your group who don't appreciate the rustic nature of our trips, all the amenities of Fairmont Hot Springs resort and the Columbia valley are only a short drive away.

All 3 day trips start on either Saturday or Tuesday, 5 day trips start on Sunday.  We will customize length or type of trip to suite your desire if possible.

The Horseback Getaway

Comfortable rustic log cabins, home-cooked meals, guided horseback riding and evenings around the campfire.

Day 1:  Guests are to arrive by 11am, a map will be supplied.  Once you have met eveyone and are settled in your cabin, lunch will be served.  After lunch a short discussion on safety and handling of horses, then off we go!!  A beautiful ride along Findlay Creek through open forests and meadows.  Back at Base Camp for the evening you will enjoy a home-cooked meal and a campfire.  Play horseshoes, go for a hike, a swim in the pond (10 minute walk), go fishing in Findlay Creek or the pond, help feed the horses, there’s plenty to do.

Day 2:  Starts with a hearty breakfast and some cowboy coffee, then it’s time to ‘saddle up and drift’.  Usually a short trailer ride for the horses then an all day ride with a bag lunch.  Weather and group riding ability will help us decide the destination (there are plenty of amazing places to ride).  No matter the destination there will be beautiful scenery and abundant wildlife.  The evening will be a variation on the theme of Day 1, BBQ, campfire etc.

Day 3:  Too bad it’s the last day, your getting the idea; coffee, big four-legged animals, scenery, etc.  By now maybe even some saddle sores.  After another interesting ride we’ll call it quits by mid afternoon, and hope to see you again next year.
